Luis Ortega comes from a long line of fishermen dedicated to making their living from the sea. Growing up in Mazatlan on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, he relished the delicious dishes that his grandparents and mother created from the family’s daily catch. It’s only natural that he developed a passion for seafood—the same passion that runs through his entire family.
As a teenager and as a young man, Luis cultivated his culinary chops. He started working in restaurants in his native Mexico when he was just 14 years old. He went on to work at a famous local seafood restaurant. There, he experimented with ingredients and flavors to perfect recipes on the restaurant’s menu as well as creating his own dishes.
With 210 Ceviche, Luis has realized his dream and commitment of bringing the bold flavors of authentic Pacific Style Mexican Cocina cuisine to the United States. The result is different from what many people consider to be Mexican food. Sure, tacos are on the menu. But diners at 210 Ceviche also enjoy mouthwatering mahi-mahi, tuna, red snapper and shrimp paired with traditional spices, rice and fresh vegetables.
Luis is excited to share the authentic flavors of his childhood with his guests.
The name of the restaurant draws its inspiration from two sources: 210, the area code for San Antonio, and ceviche, the restaurant’s signature dish. Ceviche is a tasty combination of citrus marinated fish or shrimp matched with cucumber, cilantro and other fresh ingredients to create a zesty taste sensation!
Luis still travels to Mexico two to three times every year to stay current with the latest trends in Pacific Coast cuisine. He incorporates what he learns into the menu at 210 Ceviche, always staying true to his commitment to using traditional flavors and healthy ingredients.
Luis is excited to share the authentic flavors of his childhood with his guests. Come to 210 Ceviche and experience authentic Pacific Style Mexican Cocina cuisine for yourself. Your taste buds will thank you!
